Taking Advantage of the Holidays

Many stay at home mom businesses can take advantage of the holidays. There are some exceptions of course like people who offer business services, but you can still have end of the year specials. Here are some things you can do to boost your sales this holiday season:

  • Make and promote gift baskets
  • Tailor your product for holidays (a muralist can make business or play backdrops, and a jewelry maker can make ornaments and special holiday earings)
  • Participate in holiday fairs and group sales
  • Offer holiday gift certificates (put expiration dates on them)

Do you have any unique ideas that you use during the holiday season? Leave a comment. Let us know.

It's never too late to boost holiday sales, but I think that it is best to not just start getting ready for holiday sales at the end of October.

If you haven't done anything to prepare for holiday sales or create more holiday sales, then I think it's best to pick one or two things that you think that you can do now that will make the most impact, because your time is so limited.

A tip I'd like to share is to make notes on your calendar. Note this year what you WISH you had already done by this point - note the ideas you have that are too late to implement. Then use this year's calendar as a planning tool for next year. Make notes at the end of the year of what you WISH you had done, what you WISH you had been better prepared for...in short, you write on your calendar so you can learn from your oversights and fix that situation next year.

If your business is very dependent on holiday sales, then I think you should try to have a month-by-month plan of what you want to get accomplished to be prepared for the next holiday sales season.
